Opportunity:What if you could use your engineering skills to
transform the U.S. Navy's Intelligence, Surveillance,
Reconnaissance (ISR) systems? As an optical engineer, you
understand the power behind complex systems. That knowledge is key
when it comes to the support, testing, and integration of ISR
sensor systems.Our team supports the design, development, and
testing of state-of-the-art ISR sensor systems to enhance
warfighter capabilities. That's why we need you, an optical
engineer who can use their skills to directly impact the U.S. Navy
and other Department of Defense entities. Join us and take on
exciting challenges as we support the warfighter with
state-of-the-art ISR capabilities.You Have:
- 5+ years of experience with optical system design and
engineering trade analysis
- 5+ years of experience with optical test equipment and optical
design and analysis software
- Experience setting up and operating ISR sensor systems in a
laboratory environment, including calibration and baseline
testing
- Experience with the configuration of optical elements,
including mirrors, filters, lenses, fast steering mirrors, off-axis
parabolic mirrors, stages, and similar support equipment
- Experience supporting laboratory testing of optical
systems
- Experience using a Far-Field Optical Simulator (FFOS) to
evaluate precision optical alignment of systems, including laser
bore sighting, laser beam profile, optical imager alignment, and
image quality metrics
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science field, including
Physics, Applied Optics, Optical Sciences, or Electrical
Engineering
- Secret clearanceNice If You Have:
- Experience with laser propagation and subject matter expertise
in the phenomenology of scattering, absorption, and turbulence
- Experience supporting testing of optical systems to
characterize atmospheric effects such as absorption, scattering, or
turbulence on a laser system
- Experience with optical test equipment, including power meters,
photodiodes, detectors, interferometers, wavefront sensors,
spectrometers, and beam profilers
- Experience working with laser technologies, including pulsed
visible, Near Infrared (NIR), and Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR)
lasers
- Experience working with optical design and analysis software,
including Labview, FRED, Zemax, WaveTrain, and MATLAB
- Experience using Labview to control optical devices and
systems
- Experience designing systems to operate on ships or
aircraft
- Experience analyzing and quantifying pointing stability of
optical systems mounted on ships or aircraft
- Master's degree in an Engineering or Science field, including
Physics, Applied Optics, Optical Sciences, or Electrical

is determined by various factors, including but not limited to
location, the individual's particular combination of education,
knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as
contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
The projected compensation range for this position is $67,700.00 to
$154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the
typical salary range for this position and is just one component of
Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting
